Complex Adult Health Clinical Judgment Exam (CJE) Relearning Assignment Guidelines Purpose

The relearning assignment is designed to support continued learning, developing critical thinking, and promoting clinical judgment skills throughout the pre-licensure BSN students’ education. The assignment will be completed based on student’s individual performance identified in the Strengths and Opportunities report following the course specific Clinical Judgment Exam (CJE). CJSim™(s), Adaptive Quizzing (EAQ), and Clinical Judgment Plan of Care Template(s) are completed based on the concept areas of greatest opportunity identified on students’ individual Strengths & Opportunities report. Students will add this assignment to the ePortfolio throughout the program.

Program outcomes:This assignment enables the student to meet the following outcomes:

1. Provides individualized comprehensive care based on theories and principles of nursing and related disciplines to individuals, families, aggregates, and communities, from entry to the healthcare system through long-term planning.
2. Demonstrates leadership and collaboration with consumers and other healthcare providers in providing care and/or delegating responsibilities for health promotion, illness prevention, health restoration, health maintenance, and rehabilitative activities.
3. Integrates clinical judgment in professional decision making and implementation of the nursing process.
4. Incorporates evidence-based practice in the provision of professional nursing care to individuals, families, aggregates and communities.

Follow these guidelines when completing this assignment. Speak with your faculty member if you have questions.

1. Prior to beginning this assignment, review the Clinical Judgement Exam (CJE) Strengths & Opportunities report and identify the concepts of greatest opportunity (for example Perfusion, Glucose Regulation, and Nutrition).
2. Students will use the CJSim™ Unit Census document (found in the NurseThink portal) to identify appropriate clients to care for based on the CJE Strengths & Opportunities report.
3. Students will care for the CJSim™ client as if they are caring for a living, breathing client. This includes a thorough review of the electronic health record (EHR).
4. Students may retake CJSim™ cases until grade and time requirements have been met.
5. Students will identify which CJSim™(s) they completed in the relearning agreement. Include the student name, concept, CJSim™ case title, date/time of completion, grade received on the CJSim™, and total time spent in the CJSim™.
6. Students will complete the minimal number of CJSim™(s) required by the individual score level achieved on the CJE.
   1. Exceeds standard= 1 CJSim™
   2. Meets standard= 2 CJSim™
   3. Approaching standard= 3 CJSim™
   4. Does not meet standard= 4 CJSim™
7. Students will complete the minimal number of Clinical Judgment Plan of Care Template(s) required by the individual score level achieved on the CJE.
   1. Exceeds standard= 1 Clinical Judgment Plan of Care Template
   2. Meets standard= 2 Clinical Judgment Plan of Care Templates
   3. Approaching standard= 3 Clinical Judgment Plan of Care Templates
   4. Does not meet standard= 4 Clinical Judgment Plan of Care Templates
8. When completing the Clinical Judgment Exam (CJE) Medical Surgical II Relearning Assignment:
   1. Students will complete the minimal number of Adaptive Quizzing required by the individual score level achieved on each of the Clinical Judgment Exams (CJE): Medical Surgical II. Students must achieve a mastery level of intermediate in each quiz. Please see the Adaptive Quizzing Help Guide for the Adaptive Quizzing platform.
      • Exceeds standard= 1 Mastery Adaptive Quiz
      • Meets standard= 1 Mastery Adaptive Quiz
      • Approaching standard= 2 Mastery Adaptive Quizzes
      • Does not meet standard= 2 Mastery Adaptive Quizzes
9. When completing the Clinical Judgment Exam (CJE) Pharmacology Relearning Assignment:
   1. Students will complete one Mastery Quiz selecting the RN Content Area as the topic, then choosing Pharmacology/Medical-Surgical Drugs. Students must achieve a mastery level of intermediate for this quiz. Please see the Adaptive Quizzing Help Guide for the Adaptive Quizzing platform.
10. Students will submit screenshot(s) of the mastery quiz completion showing required mastery level in the Canvas assignment submission area. The following must be captured in the screenshot: student name (if available), concept focus, date/time of completion, and mastery level achieved. See example below. The screenshot will appear immediately after mastery level is achieved and will not be available after exit.

2. Completing more than the required number of CJSim™(s), Clinical Judgment Plan of Care Template(s) and Adaptive Quizzes to reinforce learning of content is recommended.
3. It is strongly recommended that the content added in the Plan of Care Template is handwritten by the learner. Handwriting the response promotes deeper comprehension. The responses are to be in the learner’s own words.
4. Students may be required to complete specific or additional CJSim™ cases or Clinical Judgment Plan of Care Template(s) or Adaptive Quizzes as deemed necessary by faculty.
