What would be a good theory to use to guide the assessment and… What would be a good theory to use to guide the assessment and intervention for the patient described below? The theory can be a nursing or non-nursing theory. Thanks! I am familiar with Sister Callista Roy Adaptation Theory; would this theory fit?Case:´Mr. Smith is 67 years old male, appeared in the outpatient clinic complaining from a poorly healed wound in his left foot with moderate pain. ´ Mr. Smith was diagnosed with DM type 2 three years ago. He missed all his appointments with the diabetic APRN last year. ´ The nurse interview with Mr. Smith revealed that he does not monitor his blood glucose levels, consumes high carbohydrate diet, does not exercise, and misses his DM medications frequently.  ´ Mr. Smith lost his wife 9 months ago, shortly after that, his only son moved to another country for work related reasons. Mr. Smith is retired in the last two years and currently lives alone in his home.Medical Info:´ Diagnosed with DM type 2 three years ago and hypertension twelve years ago.´ No surgical history´ Positive family history of diabetes and heart diseases´ Gained 50 pounds since last time he was seen in the clinic (12 months ago).´ Started smoking 6 months ago´ Expressed loss of interest in life and the absence of the desire to meet and communicate with people.´ Physical exam of the wound: 3 by 2 cm wound in the left foot, redness and swelling around the wound, yellow discharge, and tender area around the wound.´ Various vital signs, BMI, and Lab results are listed but let out d/t length  Recommendations in the Last Visit (12 months ago): ´Regular monitoring of blood sugar level and blood glucose level.´Adherence to the prescribed medications.´Joining a support group for diabetic patients´Performing regular exercises´Education was delivered related to diabetic foot care.´Following up with the care providers in the next 6 months.    Health Science Science Nursing NURS 8002 Share QuestionEmailCopy link Comments (0)
