Welcome to Week 4!

Last week, we explored public health through the lens of a local public health agency and how these services impact the community. We discussed what works effectively and what areas need improvement. We also reviewed the importance of a community health assessment and the role of evaluation in producing positive and long-term health outcomes

In this week, we will discuss how health information is communicated and why these methods are so important. We will review some of the factors directly related to the population that influence health communication. We will examine the role of social marketing in public health and as a viable communication technique. We will identify diverse public health issues and explore how social marketing has increased awareness of those health concerns. We will also make recommendations for improving public health communication campaigns. We will develop social marketing plans for a selected health issue and discuss the role of the key components of a communications campaign with the goal of increasing awareness and improving health outcomes in a target population.
