I NEED A RESPONSE WITH ACCURACY TO THIS POST The pathophysiology of S3 heart sound can be pathological or physiological but it is dependent on the age of diagnosis. It is normal for children to have S3 heart sounds and it is also common in athletes and adults under 30 years old. After age 35 to 40, S3 heart sound is abnormal. Researchers have found that early diastole is what causes the third heart sound this results in a sudden delay in the speed of the rapid blood flow coming into the left ventricle (Chen & Zhang 2020).The results of Mrs. K’s examination indicate she may have Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). CHF is the gradual or speedy decompensation of the heart. The decreased functionality of the heart causes fluid overload which results in fluid maldistribution resulting in orthopnea, systemic edema and dyspnea (Long & Gottlieb 2019).Mrs. K, have a history of myocardial infarction along with coronary bypass surgery. Mrs. K is also experiencing increased shortness of breath, swelling in ankles and has to sleep with four pillows. These are some signs a clinician would observe in a patient with CHF.
