In general, borderline personality disorder involves having trouble with self-regulation, a lack of ability to calm down during stressful times, trouble with instability in mood, thinking, behavior, and personal relationships; an unstable self-image; and marked impulsivity (Varcarolis & Chyllia, 2020). The therapeutic communication and principles I would use with the client are using supporting statement which is meant to reassure the client that the relationship is a safe one and that her needs matter even during this difficult moment, another one is by showing empathy, that you understand what the other individual is feeling, and being truthful to the client and using non-judgmental words to describe their behaviors (Sulzer et al.,2016). The assessment process I would initiate is the history of the client, mood and affect, thought process and content, and sensorium and intellectual process. Some of the most common comorbidities that occur alongside borderline personality disorder are depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. One nursing diagnosis is the risk for suicide, and an appropriate nursing intervention is to promote the client’s safety, knowing that the client always considers suicidal ideation with the presence of a plan (Ackley et al.,2020). The interdisciplinary referrals that are appropriate for this client are client’s primary physician, therapist, registered nurse, registered dietitian or nutritionist, psychiatrist, and social worker.  References: Elizabeth, V., Chyllia, D. (082020).
