Before 2004, nurses were able to receive a professional doctorate and the PhD in the United States.  By 2004, The American Association of Colleges in Nursing (AANC) endorse the doctoral level education for Advanced Practice Nurses to enhance the practice contest in healthcare.  During the past fifteen years the doctoral education of nursing has changed by creating more access and opportunities to obtain a DNP. The DNP degree will prepare nurses using clinical base practice. (Loescher, et al., 2021). Recently the DNP has grown significantly among nurses over the years and has been transforming how nurses can implement changes in different areas. Current State of the DNP              The past decade, the DNP program had been an ongoing evolution in the United States, focusing on preparing Advanced Practice Nursing in different areas, like clinic, academic and leadership among others. By 2004 the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) request focusing on doctoral education model with the intention of transform the Advanced Nurse Practitioner education (Howard & Williams, 2017). The doctoral program prepares nurses into the advance career to turn concepts into practice while applying clinical and leadership skills (Howard & Williams, 2017).    The future state of the DNP              The future of the DNP is changing continuously facing the healthcare challenges. The changes can affect the nurses in focusing on the results. Master’s prepared the nurses in providing to face these changes, however the education in doctoral level will change the delivery care with excellence (Roush & Tesoro, 2018).  The future changes of the Doctoral Nurse Practitioner will rely on how the results of their preparation will be beneficial for an employer at the time of recruitment.  Use of DNP in Transforming Healthcare and Solving Complex Health Problems              The changes in the healthcare complexity and requests on growing nursing leaders, the DNP has been educated as APRNs to work with all challenges in today’s workplace. The fusion between clinical skills and diverse tasks on management expertise has bring an invaluable commitment to provide quality of care to all healthcare demands (Hickey & Brosnan, 2017).  The DNP program skilled nurses to collaborate with different healthcare professionals to assess the effectiveness of the primary care models and close follow up with patients’ quality of care (Hickey & Brosnan, 2017).  The DNP focus on clinical issues in a systematic way to provide long-term solutions in high demand healthcare system. The main goal is to work at the highest level and to offer the best quality of care as clinicians, leaders or to offer improvement of quality process and moving to practice (Roush & Tesoro, 2018).Advantages of Having a DNP and Personal Reflection             Having a DNP degree empower nurses to face the continuous changes in the healthcare field, will provide opportunities in leadership, policy development, and use evidence-base practice in clinical settings (Labardee, et al, 2020). The Doctoral Nurse Practice degree will empower the nurses with the advanced knowledge to manage difficult or challenges situations. DNP degree will provide more understanding of the scientific structure of practice and how essential is to be knowledgeable in the profession.               Reflecting upon the past 3 years completing the FNP degree, with the multiple challenges especially with the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, I think about all the opportunities I will obtaining as a professional by pursuing a DNP degree. ReferencesAACN.
